An Option to Always Show Endings and Text Repeats on the Top Staff
IWBNI there were an option to specify that a given text repeat, ending repeat, or the bracket of a given backward repeat should always be shown on the top staff and on the top staff of specified groups. As it is now, one may hide such repeat-related objects on all staves except the first staff of a score and the first staff of certain groups by using the checkbox option Endings and Text Repeats in the Items to Display section of the Staff Attributes dialog box. However, group-related endings and text repeats in a given system will be hidden if the first staff of the group is hidden as a result of applying staff system optimization. Also, after parts have been extracted, the checkbox option Endings and Text Repeats must be selected manually for the first staff of each part document.
This could be implemented by add the following controls to the Repeat Assignment, Ending Repeat Bar Assignment, and Backward Repeat Bar Assignment dialog boxes:
-------------------------------------------------------
Repeat Assignment Dialog Box and
Ending Repeat Bar Assignment Dialog Box
Always Show on:
[ ] Top Staff
[ ] Top Staff of These Groups: _____ (e.g. 1,3,5)
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
Backward Repeat Bar Assignment Dialog Box
Always Show Bracket on:
[ ] Top Staff
[ ] Top Staff of These Groups: _____ (e.g. 1,3,5)
-------------------------------------------------------
Note: The Repeat Assignment dialog box is used for text repeats.
When selected, these settings would override, in each system, the settings for the checkbox option Endings and Text Repeats in the Items to Display section of the Staff Attributes dialog box for the top staff or top staff of the specified groups in the system, in the same way that the option Always Show on Top Staff on the Measure Number dialog box overrides the checkbox option Measure Numbers in the Items to Display section of the Staff Attributes dialog box.
In the text box that is associated with the checkbox Top Staff of These Groups, groups would be specified by group ID numbers which are displayed on the Group Attributes dialog box. For example, one could enter the string "1,2,4" in this text box to specify the groups with IDs 1, 2, and 4.
Note: The checkboxes Top Staff and Top Staff of These Groups would be disabled on the Backward Repeat Bar Assignment dialog box in the case when the backward repeat that does not include a bracket has been selected on the Repeat Selection dialog box.
