MIDI Channel Options for Notes, Expressions and Continuous Data Messages

IWBNI it there were an option that could be used to specify the MIDI channel on which a given note, expression and continuous data message is to be played.

This feature would be useful, for example when MIDI controller messages which affect all notes played on a given channel are to be used for special effects. For example, this might be useful when using MIDI volume controller messages to affect a swell in the dynamic level of a given note of a chord. Or, this might be useful to affect a glissando that is to apply to only one note of a chord, or to affect two simultaneous glissandos for which two notes of a chord slide in opposite directions.

For notes, this could be implemented by adding the following control to the Edit MIDI Note dialog box:

---------------------------------
Edit MIDI Note Dialog Box

MIDI Channel: _____
---------------------------------

By default, the MIDI channel of each note within a chord of notes in a given layer would be the same and equal to that which is specified by the Instrument List window or by note-attached expressions or measure-attached expressions for which the Playback Option Type is Channel. One could use the text box MIDI Channel to override this default for any note within any chord, within any layer.

For expressions, this could be implemented by adding the following control to the Playback Options section of the Text Expression Designer and Shape Expression Designer dialog boxes:

---------------------------------
Text Expression Designer Dialog Box and
Shape Expression Designer Dialog Box

MIDI Channel: _____
---------------------------------

For continuous data messages, this could be implemented by adding the following control to the Set To dialog box that is used to set the value for a given continuous data message:

---------------------------------
Set To

MIDI Channel: _____
